We are transitioning into a colder and more active stretch across Southern Middle Tennessee. Light rain is likely tonight. Most areas will see light amounts, generally under one quarter inch, with lows around 40 degrees. Saturday brings a mix of sun and clouds with small rain chances in the afternoon and evening as another cold front approaches. Highs will reach the 50s.
Behind that front, much colder air arrives. Sunday and Monday will be cold and blustery with highs only in the 30s and 40s. Wind gusts near 30 mph will make it feel even colder, and wind chills may drop into the single digits by Monday morning in some areas. A few snow flurries are possible, especially across the Cumberland Plateau. Temperatures begin moderating by midweek with highs returning to the 50s and 60s before rain chances increase again late Wednesday into Thursday.

Severe Weather Awareness Topic: Tools to Receive Weather Information
When severe weather strikes, seconds matter. The difference between being informed and being unaware can save lives. One of the most important steps you can take is making sure you have multiple reliable ways to receive weather information. No single source is enough.
1. NOAA Weather Radio
A NOAA Weather Radio is one of the most dependable tools you can own. It broadcasts directly from the National Weather Service 24 hours a day and sounds an alarm automatically when warnings are issued for your county. This is especially critical at night when you may be asleep. Remember, nearly half of Tennessee’s tornadoes occur after dark. You cannot rely on outdoor sirens to wake you up.
2. Smartphone Alerts
Wireless Emergency Alerts (WEA) are pushed directly to your phone for Tornado Warnings and other life-threatening situations. Make sure these alerts are enabled in your phone’s settings. In addition, having a trusted local weather app gives you radar access, forecast updates, and real-time warning information.
The Southern Tennessee Weather App provides:
Push notifications for watches and warnings
Interactive radar
County-based updates
Live streaming coverage during severe weather
And the best part? IT’S FREE!
3. Television and Live Streaming
During high-impact events, live coverage provides context that automated alerts cannot. Meteorologists can explain storm movement, timing, and what it means specifically for Bedford, Coffee, Franklin, Grundy, Marshall, Maury, and Moore Counties.
Make sure you know how to access:
The Southern Tennessee Weather 24/7 Channel
The Southern Tennessee Weather YouTube stream
The Southern Tennessee Weather Roku and Fire TV apps
Southern Tennessee Weather social media live updates
4. Trusted Online Sources
Always verify information through reliable sources. Preferably from degreed meteorologists like myself. This can include:
National Weather Service
Storm Prediction Center
Southern Tennessee Weather
Be cautious of social media posts without official confirmation. Anyone can start a weather page and share information. False or outdated graphics can spread quickly during active weather.
Why Multiple Methods Matter
Power outages happen. Cell towers fail. Internet can go down. That is why you need layers of protection, which can include:
Weather Radio
Phone alerts
Local live coverage
Battery backup power
REDUNDANCY SAVES LIVES!
WAYS TO RECIEVE WEATHER INFO
The Bottom Line 🧾
Have at least two reliable ways to receive warnings.
Do not rely on outdoor sirens.
Enable emergency alerts on your phone.
Own a NOAA Weather Radio for overnight protection.
Follow trusted local sources (such as Southern Tennessee Weather) for real-time updates.
