Pesky rain chance this weekend
It’s been a pleasant start to Halloween across Southern Middle Tennessee. This morning brought widespread lows in the mid to upper 30s, along with pockets of patchy ground fog and frost. We’re still waiting on our first official freeze of the season, and it looks like we’ll need to head a bit deeper into November before that becomes a real possibility. Regardless, it was a chilly start to the day — and more of that cool weather is expected this evening for trick-or-treaters.
By trick-or-treat time, expect clear skies and cool conditions. With calm winds and clear skies overhead, temperatures will drop off quickly after sunset. Many of us will already be down into the mid-40s by 9 PM, so make sure the kids are bundled up before heading out. Overnight lows will fall back into the upper 30s. While widespread frost isn’t expected tonight, a few isolated patches can’t be ruled out in the more rural spots. The bigger concern will be fog, which is likely to become more widespread toward daybreak.

November gets a “bleh” start this weekend…
I’m using some super-scientific language to describe what tomorrow and especially Sunday will feel like. BLEH… While today will be absolutely beautiful, a weak disturbance and cold front will move through the region Saturday into Sunday. Saturday morning will bring increasing cloud cover, and much of the daylight hours will likely feature thick clouds overhead. After about 7:00 PM, rain chances will begin to rise into the 30–50% range. This will be light, scattered rainfall — nothing heavy, and no thunderstorms are expected. Off-and-on showers will likely continue through Sunday before we gradually clear out Sunday night. Rainfall totals look minimal, generally between one-tenth and one-half inch. Not much at all… just enough to make Saturday evening and Sunday a bit soggy in spots.
Once this weak disturbance moves out, I don’t see any solid rain chances returning until next weekend. The upcoming work week is shaping up to be just about perfect for early November.

The Bottom Line 🧾
• Beautiful weather for Halloween this evening, minus a little chill in the air.
• Increasing clouds on Saturday, with small rain chances returning by Saturday evening.
• Scattered showers possible through the day on Sunday.
• Rainfall totals will generally be less than half an inch.
